Cops are basically using theft to help fund their police departments. The Washington Post has an extensive investigative piece which reminds me of the way feudal knights used to gain lands and wealth. Step 1: work for the government (king/lord). Step 2: shake down the locals. Step 3: profit, wenches, and beer.


Many red states are taking steps toward criminalizing miscarriage. At this point, while not illegal, there's suspicion placed on women who have miscarriages. Which is awesome because all miscarriages are abortions, right? Clearly they never happen by accident or chance?

Why aren't more renters becoming homeowners? Because renting requires a paycheck and owning a home requires credit.

Maybe the starkest example is Washington University in St. Louis, one of the hot colleges of recent years, having climbed to No. 14 in the U.S. News rankings last year. Only about 6 percent of the freshman class in recent years at Wash. U., as it’s known, have received Pell grants, even though it is one of the country’s 25 richest colleges on a per-student basis.
Textbook publishers are trying to get into the online education market. I cannot think of any educational tool that has done less to educate students than textbooks. I may be biased because I didn't teach math, which is the only textbook I can remember using nearly every day.
